The n-Octanol/Water Partitioning Coefficient for ethylbenzene (log POW is 3.13) suggests a low potential for bioaccumulation. A bio-concentration factor of 91 can be calculated from the log POW. Some studies on the water soluble fractions of crude oil indicate that the bioaccumulation potential of ethylbenzene might be lower than predicted from the log POW.
As the primary removal mechanism from water is volatilization, the exposure of aquatic species will be limited.
