The repeated exposure (non-cancer) systemic toxicity of ethylbenzene has been evaluated in laboratory animals in subchronic and chronic inhalation studies and a subchronic oral study. Overall, the liver and kidney are the target organs for the toxicity of ethylbenzene upon repeated exposures. However, chronic pathology of significance was not observed.
Specialist investigations also provide evidence of hearing loss in some experimental animal studies following repeated exposure to high vapor concentrations and the possible significance of these findings is being further investigated.
